Francis Ford Coppola has sued Variety for libel after the trade paper claimed he behaved inappropriately on the set of his new movie Megalopolis.
The legendary director filed a $15 million lawsuit saying the magazine’s report that he tried to kiss female extras on the set was false.
Coppola is going to court in a bid to clear his name of that and other allegations of unprofessional behavior during filming.
“While we will not comment on active litigation, we stand by our reporters,” said a spokesperson for Variety-parent company PMC.
