Malaysian born Michelle was a dedicated dancer since the age of four and after being a ballet student at London’s Royal Academy of Dance, returned home and won the Miss Malaysia beauty title which opened up a path to screen work. That started with a commercial alongside martial arts legend Jackie Chan, who became a big supporter of hers, and was followed by a string of action films.
Not trained in martial arts, she fell back on her dance training to get the fluidity of movement needed in fight scenes and became a star in Hong Kong action films, doing her own stunts, before coming to the attention of audiences worldwide with her role in the James Bond film, Tomorrow Never Dies.
She combined her action and acting skills again with another global hit, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and more successes followed with prestige drama Memoirs of a Geisha and hugely popular comedy Crazy Rich Asians.
Michelle really can do it all and she proved it with multiverse movie Everything Everywhere All At Once, which has crowned her career with awards and acclaim. We can’t wait to see what this great talent does next.
