Don’t hold your breath for Barbie 2.
None of the talent behind the box office phenomenon have pre-arranged deals in place for a follow up film.
That’s very rare in a franchise dominated movie landscape where the actors and director typically have sequel clauses in their contracts.
But Barbie and Ken stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are not obligated to return for more and neither is director and co-writer Greta Gerwig.
That does however put them in a strong negotiating position because after the runaway success of the pop culture phenomenon, there is a huge clamor from audiences for more adventures in Barbieland.
