The Conjuring has become the most
successful horror franchise of all time at the
box office.
More than $2 billion has been grossed by the
three Conjuring movies and their spin-offs
and prequels.
With a combined budget of $178 million for
all nine films so far, that’s a scary profit for the
filmmakers.
But these movies are also among the most
critically acclaimed horror films ever with
gripping drama and top-notch production
design amid all the jump scares.
It all started ten years ago with The
Conjuring, a James Wan directed
dramatization of one of the real-life cases of
Ed and Lorraine Warren, paranormal
investigators played by Patrick Wilson and
Vera Farmiga. The duo’s haunting adventures
have continued in two sequels.
The Conjuring also spun-off into three films
about creepy doll Annabelle, a pair of The Nun
chillers and a standalone movie, The Curse of La
Liorona.
With more films from the world of The
Conjuring in development and no lessening of
audience interest, it seems moviegoers will get
to carry on screaming in terror for a long time
