Creator of Worlds

Time and again, director Christopher Nolan has pushed
back the boundaries of cinematic possibility.
The visual stylist was the first to use 70mm IMAX photog-
raphy in blockbuster movies and he has been a techno-
logical innovator on all his films.
But he faced his greatest challenge yet on acclaimed
drama Oppenheimer – and developed solutions at every
turn to deliver trademark spectacle.
This became the first movie ever to use 70mm black and
white IMAX film stock – and Oppenheimer also saw the
development of a “snorkel lens” for the IMAX camera that
has a much bigger depth of field.
These and other inventions quaranteed that Nolan’s epic
story would have an epic scope and stunning look.
The movie’s subject, Robert Oppenheimer, was known for
his brilliant mind – and so too is the talented filmmaker
who told his story.
