Jennifer Lopez is to star in a new action film which will see
her vaulting over railings, having car chases and throwing
punches. The star has tackled a range of genres in her
25-year movie acting career, mainly romantic comedies and
dramas. But The Mother, out next year, is something very
different and offers J. Lo her most physically demanding role
yet. She plays an assassin who will stop at nothing to protect
the daughter she gave up years ago.
Also starring Joseph Fiennes and Gael Garcia Bernal, The
Mother is directed by Niki Caro who made Disney’s live
action version of Mulan. The film, premiering on Netflix in
May 2023, launches a new career direction for Lopez and
potentially a fresh fan base of action aficionados.
